Located 180km (2.5 hours) northeast of Rio de Janeiro, Buzios is an upmarket resort jutting into the Atlantic on the Cabo Frio Peninsula. A tiny fishing village completely off the beaten track, Buzios was ‘discovered’ by French actress Brigitte Bardot when she was touring the area in the 1960’s. The nearest airport is Rio de Janeiro’s Antonio Carlos Jobim Airport (GIG) which is 180km south west, approximately two and a half hours by car.
